Cynthia Sherar has a background in education, having served as both a teacher and administrator in a variety of educational settings. In 2008 she founded Aspen Academy Charter School and served as the director for seven years, growing the school from 130 students in grades K-3 to nearly 600 students in grades K-8. She was also responsible for the construction of a new 42,000 square foot facility for the school. She left that position in 2015 to pursue various writing activities, but stays connected to education by doing consulting work for start-up charter schools, and is currently teaching 3rd grade for ISD 832.
Cynthia’s personal writing interests include poetry and historical fiction. There are samples of both on this website. She is currently focusing on her novel, “Whiskey Jake” for publication. She also has experience writing website content, business reports, blogging, and editing.
She has spoken locally and nationally on a variety of educational and parenting topics, and provides staff development for educators and groups as requested. Meeting the needs of the child and moving him forward from there is at the core of her parenting / educational philosophies. When she is not working with young people, her passion is writing, outdoor activities, and creating stained glass. She is the mother of three adult daughters and lives in Minnesota with her husband and two cats, Mr. Bojangles and Little Jean.
